WHAT IS A DENTURE?

A denture is a removable way to replace missing teeth in your mouth. They can range from full dentures (all teeth) to partial dentures (1 or more teeth) and can be made from a range of materials such as acrylic, chrome and valplast. Each material has its own clinical benefit and your dentist will discuss this with you at your appointment

DO I NEED A DENTURE?

Replacing missing teeth is important for dental health, not only for functionality (the ability to chew) as well as aesthetics if you are missing a visible teeth, but because if you do not replace teeth, the teeth either side and above, will eventually drift into the space causing further problems to the jaw bone and teeth. The gold standard for replacing missing teeth is a dental implant but in some cases they are not suitable, or finances prevent us being able to use them, so dentures are a good second option.

This all depends on how many teeth you have lost. With partial dentures the functionality can be extremely high, but full dentures will only every have about half the chewing power of natural teeth
